The following video is of Sir Ken Robinson on speaking about “schools killing creativity.” Reasons why you should take the time to watch:
- He’s hilarious. I love Brits.
- He has very valid points about how education systems can be factory-like. Students as raw materials and teachers as conveyors of simple knowledge. The ultimate argument about growth in learning and knowledge through creativity. He also talks about an idea he calls “academic inflation” – that a student isn’t as valued because the things they are good at are ranked inferior or even stigmatized because they are creatively-based. “Suddenly degrees aren’t worth anything.”
