a little madelyn.

24 Feb

Here are some photos from my recent shoot with little Maddy, Beau and Suzie’s new bundle of pure joy.

I often used the healing brush, appropriately named for this occasion, to cover up the tiny scratches she gave herself. Though her fingernails are smaller than my eyelashes, she managed to do a little damage to her beautiful baby skin. Otherwise, in so many ways, this family was a dream to photograph. :) So fun and so beautiful. Thanks again, Carlson’s!

I’m hoping to UPDATE my Gray Door site this weekend!

Ciao, bellas!

privacy issues.

13 Dec

Hey, friends. I’m sad to say that I changed most of my Flickr sets and collections to private. I noticed that some of my photos were being downloaded and claimed as taken by others. That’s the internet for you! Therefore, some of my older posts may have broken pictures because Flickr links were used. I apologize for that!

If you would ever like to view a photo or my Flickr, just let me know and I’ll send you a guest pass link. (Gives you easy breezy access to see the photos).

In the mean time, the following set of Liz and Ryan’s engagement session can be seen publicly. The settings will change soon. Please feel free to view them now and get ready to see some major in love moments. :) Thanks, again, to Liz and Stroop for allowing me to take your pictures. What a blast at the Statehouse!

art & emotion.

11 Dec

Ok, so what if I get slightly emotional when editing couple’s pictures? I love that love can still move me. It gives my somewhat cynical heart hope to know that it can still produce emotion and be inspired. I’m not implying that those abilities were gone but sometimes they get lost in the translation of the daily grind. And I am not ashamed that a picture, accurately and thoroughly depicting the depth of love, may cause the welling up of a tear. :)

Here’s to feeling loved. Cheers.

More Keller and Scholz/Stroop pictures to come!

P.S. If you have the opportunity to see Rob Bell’s Drops Like Stars tour, then go. I know everyone says this: I needed to hear every word. That’s the beauty of Bell’s messages – they’re simple and obvious. The art of solidarity – to know that “we’re all in this together” (a la musician Ben Lee) is what helps us get through the mess of life. Presence is enough to heal. So easy to forget, huh? Thanks, Mr. Bell, for reminding me that I serve the “God who wastes nothing.”

Off to celebrate this hunk’s birthday (well, it was Wednesday). I’m giddy with excitement to give him his gift – I’ve been saving a bit for it. :)

camera weekend. (miscellaneous monday).

7 Dec

This weekend I had the immense pleasure of photographing several good friends. :) In honor of “miscellaneous monday,” here are some of my favorite takes from the weekend (and teasers for the friends photographed).

First up: the way-too-good-looking Keller family. :) We did some major photo hunting and it was a blast! We took some Christmas pictures, blog pictures, website pictures – just a smorgasbord of photo goodness.

(I like this one – even though it’s before we fixed his jacket.)

The second photo session for the weekend included love, the Ohio Statehouse (out-of-this-world architecture in that place), and a boy named Stroop (and the lovely Liz). Engagement pictures for Ryan and Liz. Look for the rest soon! Here are a few previews:

More pictures sooon. Check them out here, too.

holiday lovelies.

4 Dec

Yea weekend! Thank you for all the very kind words and encouragement about Gray Door’s appearance. I’m nearly faint with excitement over the whole matter. :) I should have also announced that site launch was just PHASE 1 of my plan – I’m working on the blog for Gray Door. Look for PHASE 2 soon! :)

Here’s some eye candy to get you in the wintry/holiday mood:

This weekend I’m making a promise to myself (to find enough time) to:

Enjoy your weekend!

gray door photography launch!

2 Dec

Well, my friends, my photography site is finally up! It was a labor of love – I worked on it any free minute I could find. I’m ridiculously excited about how it turned out – simple, clean, and fresh (and inexpensive for me!). Please, please let me know what you think about the site and feel free to send me a message via the site. :) Also, if you’re interested in getting any photos done, email me and I’ll send you my pricing options! I am booked for four weddings next year (the weekends are getting filled quickly – and don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten that I’m getting married in there somewhere, too!).

Enjoy!
