…but thankful.

10 Dec

I am contentedly overwhelmed with all the things on my to-do list.
I actually look forward to most of things I need to accomplish.
I have a job. I have a community of friends. I have a place to worship and fellowship. I have an incredibly kind and patient fiance. I have a supportive family. I have shelter, clothes, and food.

My blessings aren’t taken for granted. Today one of my students told me he has been sleeping in his mom’s car the past few nights . He’s afraid his mother’s boyfriend will beat him when he comes in drunk every night. It definitely puts things into perspective, right?

ten-word biography.

28 Jun

right_col_headerI have to admit: I am a twitter-er. And on Twitter I follow SoulPancake, an open-forum site that discusses “spirituality, creativity, and philosophy.” The thoughts are completely user-contributed and no limitations have been made to sharing personal opinions. Therefore, some of the stuff I’ve read has been…interesting. I really like the concept of it, though, and that it encourages any demographic to reply or respond. It’s not just limited to the deep thinkers, movers and shakers.

Anywho, the site throws out a “life’s big question” everyday for anyone to answer. Today was “what’s your ten-word biography?” Now, I don’t mean to be difficult but do you know how DIFFICULT that is for me. I love words.

Some of my favorite contributions:

“A beautiful mess coming alive in the scandal of redemption.”
“At the moment: I really really really really really really really hate hangnails.”

This is what I came up with:
“All at once: broken and repaired. Learning, creating, and following.”

10 words. Boom roasted. Not a parallel sentence but ah well. Follow SoulPancake on twitter or their site. Feel free to share your ten-word biography, too!

Back to my project…no more procrastinating.

currents.

17 Jun

I miss my Current. So, I’m composing a list of currents.

Current drink: spicy chai – from Trader Joe’s. Mmm.
Current book(s): Taking Sides: Clashing Views on Educational Issues, Curriculum Today, City of Ember (book I’m teaching for summer school) and Feel (my devotional).
Current music/sounds: last.fm library – specifically William Fitzsimmons’ “You Broke My Heart” and washing machine
Current location: dining room table, surrounded by stacks of paper and books.
Current complaint: headache…a tension one or from the weather maybe?
Current crack-up: Tilly is eating flies again. Extra protein, right? (Tilly is a dog, by the way. Don’t worry).
Current worry: will I survive the stress of taking AND teaching classes in the next four weeks?
Current hope: I want to visit Laurie in the mountains, the Bate family in Michigan and snap lots of photos.
Current goal: not to overdose on caffeine like I did yesterday and finish my curriculum evaluation project.

Current means of procrastination: BLOGGING.

  • Argument against READINESS:
    • Teachers must be educated in a science of education such as child debelopment.
    • Curriculum involved knowing exactly when and how students are developmentally ready to learn specific information.
    • Society must be eager for educational reform or change.

wicked busy.

stressed to the max. too much on that plate of mine right now.

tread along, my dear.

25 Mar

I get so frustrated when I reach that point in my hectic life where I just seem to be running in place. Never getting anything completely done. Work keeps piling up. Sleep slowly loses priority. That’s life, I know…but still frustrating.
